Welcome to the World's largest publisher and distributor of harp
music! We also carry a large collection of orchestral harp parts.
International Music Service was founded by the late Don Henry in
1958, when he became acutely aware of the great inaccessibility
of quality music in the harp repertoire at that time. He began researching,
discovering and publishing harp music. During his 37 years in this
niche, he had acquired and compiled a most formidable catalog of
harp music of over 4,500 titles. A great number of which are published
by him under the publication logo "LYRA MUSIC COMPANY." The company
also acquires from other publishers a great deal of standard classical
harp music and the distribution end is International Music Service.
Our prices are the most affordable worldwide. Our publications are
direct sales only except through distributors outside the USA (see
listing).
In his great quest to serve all harpists efficiently and cost effectively,
Don Henry established his "Harp Headquarters" in the center of upper
Manhattan. A five-stories brown stone building, appropriately named
"LYRA HOUSE", houses the store for harp music, harps and accessories.
Strategically located near Lincoln Center, the Juilliard School
of Music and the Manhattan School of Music, it is convenient to
teachers, students, visitors and visiting orchestras.
Perhaps the main hallmark of IMS is our voluminous catalog which
includes over five thousand entries. Contained within a hard cover,
ringed binder, it is refillable every 3 years and sells for $5.00
plus $3.00 postage (US).
Don Henry passed away in 1995, but his wife and long time partner,
Mikki Henry, still carries on this business in his tradition.
